AID FOR THE AGED IN DISTRESS is a national 'no frills' registered charity.

Established in June 1982 it amalgamated with the registered charity 'Aid for the Aged' whose aims and objectives were also to alleviate the plight of frail elderly people in financial stress throughout the United Kingdom. The amalgamation enabled our small but highly experienced staff to work efficiently and ensure that overheads and expenses were kept to an absolute minimum.

AID FOR THE AGED IN DISTRESS gives direct financial relief to frail elderly people in distress when they need it. We are called upon often as a last resort, to help where others cannot or will not.

AID FOR THE AGED IN DISTRESS concentrates its efforts and resources directly to elderly people in the U.K. who, because of ineligibility or, who are only receiving partial funding through statutory or voluntary services, fall through the 'safety net'. When need is genuine we try never to let them down.

There are approximately 10 million elderly people in the U.K. Some three million live alone, often in appaling conditions. Some are housebound, others mentally confused, infirm and neglected. In a crisis, local councils, caring agencies and other charities rely on us to help where they cannot. Families and distressed individuals also appeal to us directly.

We make emergency grants for heating, bedding, clothing, cookers, carpets, curtains, furniture, repairs, telephones and alarm connections and other essential items that may make an elderly persons life more comfortable.
