Press Release - December 2007
AFTAID
delivers Christmas cheer London, December 2007 - In celebration of its 25th anniversary, AFTAID - Aid for the Aged in Distress - the charity that provides the elderly with vital financial support, will deliver a £25 cheque towards the Christmas expenses of some of the people who have benefited from its grants. Since it was established in 1982, AFTAID has helped thousands of elderly people across the UK out of situations of financial distress, focusing its efforts and resources on those who, because of ineligibility or, who are only receiving partial funding through statutory or voluntary services, fall through the 'safety net.' The charity has grown steadily over the last 25 years and its newsletter, The Bright Side, which launched in 1996 has proved to be a popular way to keep in touch with the charity's friends and supporters. Lewis Green, AFTAID trustee comments, "The principle aim of AFTAID has always been to help elderly people reach an acceptable standard of living and maintain their independence within the familiar surroundings of their own home. And we are proud to have been able to come to the assistance of many frail elderly people over the 25 years." He added, "For
those elderly people in our society who have to make do on only a basic
pension, the Christmas period can be lonely and also, with extra expense,
worrying. In this, our 25th year of providing aid where little or none
is otherwise available, we wanted to ease the burden by giving a little
extra at this time." For further details or to speak to a Trustee, email your request and contact details to info@aftaid.org.uk Download pdf - Download text file - Back to full list of releases
